January 30, 2009Seattle, Washington-based metal band DARKEST GRACE, which features in its ranks former members DAMNAGED, has officially released its debut album, "Welcoming The Nightmare" via Straight Razor Entertainment (formerly LaMafia Records),the new artist-development company launched by producer Ben Schigel (CHIMAIRA, RINGWORM, DROWNING POOL),CHIMAIRA bassist Jim LaMarca and former MUSHROOMHEAD manager Trent Weller. The CD was recorded in part at Red Room Studio in Seattle with Schigel and was mixed at Spider Studios in Cleveland, Ohio.
LaMarca had this to say about the band: "I have known DARKEST GRACE when they were called DAMNAGED in 2002. They were juniors in high school touring with DANZIG and I have watched this band develop since they were kids and now they have turned themselves into a band far from there younger days starting off. I am proud to say that I manage such a strong younger force in this metal genre".
DARKEST GRACE has a CD-release show scheduled on February 8 at El Corazon in downtown Seattle with other local heavy hitters such as STABBINGBACK, STONEBENDER, TUT and VERATA.
"Welcoming The Nightmare" can be found on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and Amazon.
Taking a look at some of the influences of DARKEST GRACE, there is an inclination towards the appreciation for the craft of songwriting…the so-called singer/songwriter influences of THE BEATLES, FOO FIGHTERS and GOO GOO DOLLS. Be that as it may, these guys are quick to remind you that they are first and foremost a heavy metal band replete with all the characteristically "metal" influences one would expect. The band draws inspiration from PANTERA, KORN, TOOL, NINE INCH NAILS, METALLICA, CANNIBAL CORPSE and SLAYER, and as vocalist Nick Woodward states, "the list could go on and on, it is rather diverse in the rock spectrum, and we all contribute to the writing process."
DARKEST GRACE is:
Nick Woodward (vocals, guitar)
Chris Johnson (drums, backing vocals)
Tim "Fish" Sarrels (bass, backing vocals)
Tim "Timm-eye" Reel (rhythm guitar)
